Intergenerational Program
At Wirtzie’s, children have the unique opportunity to connect with “Grandmas” and “Grandpas” from Benevilla’s Life Enrichment Programs through our optional Intergenerational Program. Whether playing bingo, baking bread, or creating puppets together, these meaningful interactions foster learning, friendship, and personal growth. Studies show that children in Intergenerational Programs develop greater empathy, social skills, and self-regulation—creating bonds that can last a lifetime.
Purpose
Intergenerational programming brings children and older adults together to build meaningful relationships, share experiences, and learn from one another. These interactions foster empathy, social development, and a sense of community while providing both generations with companionship and a deeper understanding of each other. Through shared activities, children gain valuable life skills, and older adults experience a renewed sense of purpose and joy.
